Concussion Education

As was discussed at the LSA Summer AGM, Louisiana has passed legislation that now requires youth sports organizations to notify its participants (players/parents/coaches) of the symptoms of concussions and the risks with continuing to participate with a possible concussion. LSA has prepared the below documents to help you meet the requirements of Louisiana Act 314 (legislation passed in regards to concussion education in youth sports).

Forms:

LSA Informed Consent about Concussions for parents/players – mandatory (if you would like this language incorporated into your Got Soccer online registration, let Jennifer Davis know)
LSA Concussion Notification Form – to be used at your tournaments/practices/games when a possible concussion is suspected (not required by law; provided for your information & use if you wish to document incidents); LSA will be using this form at all State tournaments
Concussion Procedure and Protocol to go with the above notification form; again, this is not required by law but will be followed at all LSA state tournaments
Act 314 – Louisiana Concussion Act

Going forward you will need to use the LSA informed consent form for parents/players or use a club-developed form that contains similar content.

Coaches have their concussion education requirement incorporated into our risk management/disclosure online in Got Soccer in order to meet the requirements of the LA Statute. If you would like a hard copy of this concussion education language for coaches, let us know.
