Tournaments
There are many tournaments for adults and youth both in and out of state. Through your affiliation with Louisiana Soccer Association you are affiliated with US Youth Soccer and United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
There are many tournaments available to adults through local associations affliated with USASA and also national competitions. The annual Veteran's Cup, Coed Cup and National Cups provide compeition for men and women from Open through to Over 65. For more information on Adult tournaments through USASA please click here.
US Youth Soccer is the largest youth sports organization in the US and there are benefits which come from an organization of this size. One of those benefits is a national tournament for the two top competitive levels of play. These are the National Championship Series for the Premier level and the Presidents Cup for our Division 1 players.
Louisiana Soccer does not prohibit any team from playing in a tournament sanctioned by another organization as long as it is also affiliated with the US Soccer Federation. Examples of these other organizations are US Club Soccer, AYSO, and USSSA. The Application to Host should state what organization is sanctioning the tournament. If you aren’t sure if they are affiliated, check the website of the club or ask the tournament director. Tournaments can be sanctioned by more than one organization if the tournament host is a member of both, for example – US Club and US Youth Soccer can both sanction the same tournament.
Teams participating in tournaments which are not sanctioned by US Youth Soccer cannot use rosters or player passes with the US Youth Soccer Logos on them. The LSA Office will make generic rosters and passes for these events. You need to give the office three weeks so that everyone has a chance to get the roster and passes completed without having to rush.
Louisiana Soccer Policy allows U10 teams and older to compete in tournaments. All other age groups are restricted to jamborees only.
Friendly Games
Friendly Games are often arranged between both US Youth Soccer affiliated teams and with non US Youth Soccer teams. Here are the rules you need to know about friendly games.
- Games in the state between LSA clubs do not require any notification or paperwork.
- Games held in Louisiana which involve other US Youth Soccer Club teams require an Application to Host be filled out and filed with the state. You must forward a copy of the approved Application to Host to the teams invited to the friendlies so that they have it to file with their notice of travel
- If you are invited to participate in friendlies in another state your team must fill out and file a Travel Notices, be sure to obtain the Application to Host from the Hosting Team.
- Play between US Youth Soccer Teams and other US Soccer Affiliated Teams, such as USASA Adult Teams, NAIA and NCAA Division 3 College Teams or PDL Team requires a letter to the state office asking permission to play and a Travel Notice.
Note: If you are hosting a team and will play on a field that you do not normally use such as a stadium field be sure that you have a proper Field and Goal Inspection filed and have received a Field Insurance Certificate. LSA cannot approve any game on an uninsured field.
